When the Devil is reversed, it indicates recovery from addictions or bad habits, saying no to temptations, or beginning a path of redemption and enlightenment. This is amazing news and I wish every one of you the very best of luck on your path! May you move forward with ease and your burdens practically step aside to allow you to pass!
Uh-huh…. You know those people who finally are able to quit smoking and then become completely insufferable about smoking and anyone who does? Substitute smoking for going on the Keto Diet, becoming a vegetarian or going totally vegan, giving up all forms of social media, consuming only free-range eggs, etc., etc. and those people are just as obnoxious about their super “woke” habits as those who recently quit smoking.
It’s VERY easy to become arrogant and holier-than-thou when you’ve turned over a new leaf. Suddenly everything is seen in extremes…black/white, good/evil…there’s absolutely no wiggle room left for being human. “Did you see Martha chowing down on that ice cream cone? Ha! She who is vegan/gluten free/keto!!! Fell off HER throne, now didn’t she!!!” Yeah, and YOU took three drags on that vape pen in the car.
Whatever you’re trying to do to become a better person in your own eyes, good on ya. Just do it on yer own mat and shaddap about Martha.
Happy August everyone!
June is going to be a time of shaking things up a bit and breaking out of your normal, daily rut. Take some time and examine your personal rules, values, and/or beliefs. Do they still ring true to you? Have you outgrown your views on politics? Have you shifted your stance on human rights? Does your religion nurture you spiritually or are you attending services simply out of habit?
Living hidebound by the “shoulds” and “oughts” society dictates (we’re not talking about actual laws here) can stifle your individuality. I mean, on whose authority do we ladies not wear white shoes before Memorial Day or after Labor Day? It’s time to step out of the box you’ve stuck yourself in and make some rules of your own when it comes to your wardrobe, beliefs, and habits. As long as you don’t harm anyone else or break the law, be the “weird” one; it can be enormously liberating and rewarding!
If you can let go of some of the restrictions you’ve followed, you may find your innovative juices will flow. Expect a burst of creativity this month that will be recognized as something valuable to not just you.
Have a happy avant garde June!
This card is all about the different connotations of lying. Lying to others, yourself, being “less than completely honest”, manipulating the situation, lying by omission, and generally being tricksy just to name a few ways we can be untruthful. Now, it’s true that sometimes, we simply must lie or bend the truth for ethical reasons. Doctors will tell loved ones the patient died without suffering when he knows damned well the patient fought and suffered until the end. You’ll tell your partner it was “good” for you, too, just to help them feel a little better about themselves and so you can roll over and go to sleep. The coach tells the worst kid on the team that he can see “improvement” to give the kid a boost in self esteem.
My point today is to really examine your motivations behind your untruths. Are you saving someone’s feelings? Are you motivated by compassion and sympathy? Or are you lying to save your own skin or ego, to weasel out of something you don’t have the balls to straightforwardly say you don’t wanna do, or to get something you want at the expense of another?
If you’re lying to yourself about something, stop. Face your truth: you actually LIKE to smoke, you’re just too lazy to exercise, and you hate smoothies/love bacon. Do you have to do anything about the things you lie to yourself about? No. But if you have to lie to yourself to shut something up, then there’s a deeper urge that’s saying maybe you should do something about that. Food for thought.
Happy May all!
Interesting that this card should appear as spring blooms and Mother Earth works her magic to carry us into a new season of growth…. When the Six of Cups is upright, it brings us fond memories and soft nostalgia about our past. Reversed, we are given a more honest view of the past: those “good ol’ days” weren’t so golden after all. The so called Gilded Age had its own share of problems. Just ask your grandmother about washing clothes…or your great-grandmother.
If thinking about your childhood evokes “discomfort”, you may need a little assistance getting past some stuff that’s now getting in your way. This can mean a few sessions with a licensed therapist, but it can also mean taking swimming lessons if you’re afraid of the water, tennis lessons if you’re still mortified by your poor performance on the high school tennis team, etc. The point is to remove destructive unconscious thought patterns and replace them with new memories of success. Check to see if you’re still performing certain obligations out of habit, too, because those also fall into “destructive patterns.”
In a nutshell, this card is about facing forward with renewed trust in your future. Enjoy!
Happy April, all!
This card is about clearing the way and overcoming obstacles or opposition to your ideas and/or projects. Part of overcoming will be to stand firm in your convictions. Don’t allow group-think to carry you along with the herd. Rise above; it’s time for some individual action.
The Seven of Wands also indicates that your current “location” may not be best for you. Have you been thinking of opening a business and have a store front picked out? That spot may not bring you the traffic you need to be successful. Review all your research and/or leasing paperwork just to be certain. Alternatively, have you been thinking it’s time to move jobs? March would be a good month to set that change in motion.
Whether you stand up for your intentions, move jobs, or change business locations, it’s all going to be a bit frightening and you’ll struggle with insecurity and doubt. This. Is. Normal! A little trepidation tells you you’re paying attention and the project, business, or job matters to you. Remain calm, resourceful, and above all else true to your Highest Self.
Happy March All!
