As I have explained in prior gemstone of the month listings...there are many charts from which to choose and I have tried to include all that apply to this month of June, including the crossover for the Zodiac.
There is no one right or wrong choice on your birthstone...just go with the one you are most drawn to right now...it is probably what you need to help you through the current situations or may even be the stable, guiding energy of your life. It is up to you to choose...I am merely offering the 'traditional' or 'society driven' options for informational purposes. It may give you some insight as to why you are drawn to certain stones and why certain ones may even repel you...(that's usually because you are not ready to accept or work with certain problem areas in your life at the current time...it will come when you are ready.)
Below are the definitions associated with the gemstones of the month. Enjoy!!!...and remember...not all stones or crystals have to be perfect, beautiful, or gem quality to give you the benefits of their energies. The humblest stone, crystal, being or creature, may have more effect and more power to heal, enlighten, or expand your world than the priciest, biggest, or richest thing/being/creature in the world.

Alexandrite - CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=4504822ALEXANDRITE--this is a great transformational stone. It offers the ability to change colors in certain lights and is often very hard to find in the natural state...most on the market now-a-days is manmade but it still contains the transformational properties when aiding you to change both within and without. It is said to help ease depression and find inner joy. It is good for glandular problems and also for the building of the blood.

    Pearls - By Hannes Grobe/AWI - Own work, CC BY 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=12457328

PEARL--this gem has been linked with chastity and modesty, making it something of an angelic, pure birthstone. They are also linked to successful and happy marriages. They are not a true gemstone but they do embody the energies of the sea and nature. Very calming and often overlooked by today's generation as 'old lady' jewelry but they are also used in some of the cosmetics today, especially with some of the oriental creams or make-up I have seen. These beautiful gems are universal and an elegant touch to any occasion...especially when you are nervous and want to stay calm.

Green Moss Agate Crystal Ball - By Reitawood (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsAGATE/MOSS AGATE--This stone shows moss-like tendrils (either black or green) through a semi-opaque to semi-translucent white to clear agate and is said to help with plant growth. It is very good grounding, good for lungs, and nervous disorders. (There are actually a few types of classification for this stone...the straight moss agate which normally has black manganese dendrites and the green moss agate which has green needles or tendrils and a harder to find form called Nairobi Moss Agate which also contains a reddish color in with the green.) Agates in general have energies which correspond to their coloring and that, in turn corresponds to the chakra of the same color. They are nearly everywhere and combine with other stones or even former creatures to create beautiful stones and wonderful energies. Some examples of the agatized items are agatized beach glass (Opalite) and agatized coral... a former living creature. It will also combine with bone or plant, making it agatized. All of which goes to show that one should never under estimate the power of the agate.

Mineraly.sk chalcedon - CC BY 2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=164249CHALCEDONY--This is a form of Quartz, which is also the basis for Agates and many other stones/crystals. It comes in transparent, translucent, or opaque and may have small amounts of opal included. Considered a scared stone by Native American Indians, it was used to help provide stability during ceremonial activities and also aided in opening pathways for thought transmissions. It is very useful for balancing the energies of the body, mind, spirit, and emotions, encouraging brotherhood of all mankind. Also said to help combat build-up of materials in the veins, aid with different forms of dementia, senility, and increase mental stability.

CarneoolCARNELIAN --This is a variety of Chalcedony which, in turn, is a form of Agate. It is a very highly evolved mineral healer. It is said to energize the blood; aid the kidneys, lungs, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and tissue regeneration. Also said to vitalize the physical/ emotional/ mental bodies while aligning the physical and etheric bodies: enhances attunement with the inner self; facilitates concentration; and opens the heart. This is a warm, social and joyous stone working with the root and the sacral chakras. This is also said to help with self-esteem, fears, angers, hidden emotions and sexual problems. It is often carried as a talisman stone. (EXTRA NOTE: According to Edgar Cayce readings, carnelian is also great for sinus and allergy relief...which I can confirm...at least for me. I have never been overly drawn to it...nice and all but never really wore it until I found that reading in my studies about gemstones. I had been given a lovely stretch bracelet of carved turtles and spacers which was carnelian and so decided to try it. WOW!!! The effect was almost instant when I first put it on so I have been wearing it almost every day since and have had a LOT less problems with my sinuses. Not to be considered a cure-all because if it's a really bad allergy day, I still have some problems but they are significantly less than I used to have and I have backed off using a lot of the over the counter sinus stuff. This is only my personal reaction and it may not be the same for everyone and is definitely not a replacement for prescribed medicines...it is just a booster for whatever therapy you currently use...as are all stone companions.)

Brillanten - By Mario Sarto - Self-photographed, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=1015397DIAMOND--Ah yes...the Diamond...the stone said to be a girl's best friend...well...I have a differing opinion on that one. Almost everyone has seen a diamond. It's one of the most sought after gems stones around and one of the priciest for really good specimens. It has been the traditional engagement ring stone for who knows how long because it signifies loyalty, faithfulness, and steadfastness in relationships and commitments. It is said to help one be the best one can be. It is also the elephant of the crystal world...it never forgets anything it has experienced...which is one reason people should be cautious when buying estate jewelry or pawned engagement/wedding rings...the diamonds store the bad as well as the good and if there was a lot of problems or anger associated with the former owner, that will stay with the stone and influence the next owner. Remember the 'curse' which is legendary to the Hope Diamond? Diamonds are one of the hardest minerals around so wouldn't it be logical that it would be hard to get rid of bad vibrations and memories which had been implanted through wearing or handling of the piece? One may be able to clear some of the memories but there will always be the core remembrance somewhere deep within awaiting to be awoken by a similar event. Diamonds are also used in industry for cutting, lasers, and more.

Beryl - By Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10164440EMERALD--The Emerald is a stone of the heart chakra, opening one to more love and healing past hurts . It is also a stone to work out things with father figures...whether your actual father or someone who has felt like a father to you. It also helps when there is no father figure present. The Emerald is also a stone which helps one to realize prosperity and helps with dream work/ meditation. It deepens spirituality and consciousness. A wonderful all around healing stone.

Akwamaryna na skaleniu - By Lech Darski - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=33677475AQUAMARINE--This is a variety of Beryl. As is obvious with the name, it is associated with the water and all elements of the ocean. It is said to calm the nerves; reduce fluid retention; strengthen kidneys, liver, and spleen; purifies the body; enhances clarity of mind; aids in creative self-expression; aids with physical/ emotional. mental balancing ; helps banish fears and phobias; is excellent for meditation, inspiration, peace, calmness, and love. This stone has several shading variations from the namesake aquamarine blue to a greenish blue and is not always the transparent gem quality but it works well no matter what the color or the quality of the stone/ crystal. This is a very peaceful and calming stone, working with the throat chakra but also working with the feminine side of one's character to allow a better flow of emotions and energy.

Moonstone from Africa - By Mr Matthew Hardy Japan - Photosubmissions, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=20533902MOONSTONE--is said to help balance the male and female energies of a person; said to work with PMS or moodiness; is good for pregnant women or creatures; and almost all of the 'feminine' diseases. The brown moonstone is said to be good for the healing of the lower body and, in particular, the lowest part of the back. The pink and green moonstones are said to be good healing stones for females but will also work for males who tend to experience--'that time of the month'--as well. One of the most sought after versions of the moonstone is the Rainbow Moonstone and is said to have a connection to the divine Goddess and the divine feminine. One of the best stones for any female on the planet and is great for bringing out the nurturing qualities in some males as well. It works on all levels.

Sardonyx in Papyrus Basket - By Warclachaja - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=40982890SARDONYX--Is actually a form of carnelian which is also an agate but it contains banding of colors like the orange-red and white to clear and contains all of the properties of a carnelian as well as that of Onyx and Chalcedony. It is said to bring happiness in marriage and live-in relationships, allowing one to realize the joys of living. It is also said to help attract friends, good fortune and self control while diminishing hesitation and promoting courage. It is also known as a 'stone of virtue'.

Mary Jane BriggerTwo years ago, I experienced my guardian angels in such a profound way that it saved my life...."

I was recuperating from a bad fall that shattered my elbow and required major surgery. Regaining my strength back after the fall and surgery took some time. One day I felt I was strong enough to get out of the house and asked my husband to take me to the library. As we arrived at the library, I told him I was going to the second floor which was accessible by a long flight of stairs.

I went up the flight of stairs and perused the books that were on this floor. I began to feel weak and decided to go down the stairs to find my husband to go home. As I walked to the stairs, I felt all this energy of alarm around me. I kept sensing that I must use the elevator but decided to ignore that feeling for it was quicker going down the stairs.

As I began my descent down the stairs, I felt weak and lightheaded. My left arm was in a cast and sling which left me unable to grab the stair rail which was on the left side. I began to feel like I was floating in air as if in a dream and the stairs began to weave up and down in front of me... I realized that I was going to fall down these steep steps.

Suddenly I felt a Whoosh of air in front of me and I saw a large, white light that surrounded a beautiful Angel in front of me, guiding me down the stairs. I was mesmerized by her beauty as she led me down the steps and I remember feeling so safe and secure within her presence. I felt as if I floated down the stairs with this beautiful Angel while experiencing such a deep sense of love and peace.

As we reached the bottom of the stairs, I felt my foot hit the floor as I stepped off the stairs which brought me back to reality and then my  beautiful Angel disappeared. I stood there dazed and realized that no one had seen what I had just experienced. I then walked over to a chair to process that I had almost fallen down the stairs which would of definitely killed me. I was still feeling this deep sense of peace and love my Angel had surrounded me with when I began my descent down the stairs despite what had just happened to me.

For several weeks this beautiful Guardian Angel of mine stayed visible to me. She glowed in a beautiful white light and told me that she was one of a group of angels who surrounds me at all times and they call themselves Bliss. This loving angel told me that when she realized that I was about to fall down the steps, that Whoosh of air I felt was her jumping in front of me. By focusing on her Beauty of Light, it kept me from passing out and guided me down the steps. I remember feeling there was no time and space, only Peace, Love and Light.

Since then, I see and talk with my Angels of Bliss  every day, for I now know they never leave me and are always there for me. And they have gifted me to help others know that their guardian angels are always with them.

It seems that the general consensus for a modern gem stone for the month of May is Emerald, however, there are many other alternatives listed if you don't happen to be drawn to an Emerald. Emeralds may seem a bit on the expensive side, however there are many grades and styles of emeralds…not just the traditional green we all think of…like the Emerald City in 'THE WIZARD OF OZ'. Non-gem quality stones, like the mine-run raw Emeralds, can be as low as $1.00 per stone and contain all of the same energies as the gem quality ones for up-to hundreds more.

The list below for the Gems of this month may also overlap with last month but par of that is due to May having the Zodiac signs of Taurus and Gemini. For the complete lists, check elsewhere in my blog.

By Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10163716CHRYSOCOLLA-- Balances the heart center to bring stability and emotional awareness. It focuses universal love energies into healing. It is a great peaceful and calming stone with its blue to blue-green coloring. Great for those working with computers as well as a good feminine stone, working with the voice, throat, ears and third eye. This particular stone is often found with Malachite and will have the additional properties of helping with the lung conditions (asthma and bronchial conditions) while helping to neutralize the effects of tobacco smoking.

By Reitawood (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsMOSS AGATE--This stone shows moss-like tendrils (either black or green) through a semi-opaque to semi-translucent white to clear agate and is said to help with plant growth. By Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10446979SAPPHIRE-- Sapphires come in a wide range of colors beyond the traditional blue, including greens, whites, yellows, peach, orange and clear. They are a good antidepressant for the body, mind and spirit. Said to help digest heavy foods, aid the heart, kidneys, and pituitary gland functions. It also helps to enhance creativity by releasing blockages holding back talents. White sapphire is the one which helped me to release the blocks I had about wire-wrapping many years ago. The white sapphires I worked with were manmade ones which were manufactured for use in science labs because of the hardness of the substance.

Manmade stones may not have quite the same energies as those found in nature but they do possess many of the same attributes…I just found that they needed frequent rest and recharge periods as well as cleansing but they worked just as well as natural ones. So don't be too quick to condemn manufactured pieces, simply go with what you are drawn to and can afford.

Welcome to all. As you can see from the list, there is a large price range in one’s gemstone choices. Please remember to trust your instinct but be aware of your budget when acquiring that special stone. The raw gem may not be as pretty but the energies remain the same and they are usually a fraction of the cost of a finished piece. Perhaps I will go into the lengthy process of cutting, polishing and finishing a gemstone at a later date. Most do not realize the process and length of time it takes to get a fine gemstone finished into the beautiful jewelry which appeals to us.

    March Gemstones

Aquamarine Beryl - By Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10450200AQUAMARINE--The traditional birthstone for March…this crystal will also substitute as one of the stones compatible with October. It is very peaceful, calming, and good for the throat. Works with swollen glands, to balance glands, excellent for the eyes and vision as well as working with bones and teeth.

Heliotrop - By Ra'ike (see also: de:Benutzer:Ra'ike) - Own work, CC BY 2.5, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=2372925BLOODSTONE--This form of Jasper is good for balancing, blood and liver problems, prosperity, and stopping bleeding. Generally good for whole body cleansing and also helps one deal with and remove old anger. Word of caution-this stone will amplify PMS problems with some females so if it seems to do that at those ‘times of the month’, it would be wise NOT to carry or wear it. There is also a legend/myth associated with Bloodstone. The red spots which look like drops of blood are suppose to be the blood of Christ which is why it is suppose to work with healing blood/circulation problems.

Amethyst cut - By Wela49, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=424189AMETHYST--Works with the Crown Chakra, gentle allover healer. This opens for intuition and messages through the Crown chakra but may be used wherever it is needed for bringing in the Violet healing light. It aids soothing in times of distress; connects one to the angelic realm as well as with the devic realm. It is excellent for meditation and used to protect against psychic attacks by sending said attacks out into the Universe where they are transformed into a positive, loving energy. Ancients used the Amethyst to help support sobriety and is a good aide to help resist addictions. Also may be used to help repel fleas from cats by placing a few small crystals or one mid-sized crystal into the cat's water dish. (I have a friend who swears by this and is constantly getting more to have on hand...it's good to change the stones out now and again to give the immersed ones a chance to re-energize.)

Corail algérien - By Lastal - Own work, CC0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=12846582CORAL--Is a living stone, having once been alive as a sea creature, thus it contains cycling energies as well as the energies of the ocean. The colors will determine which chakra point to which it will attune but it is said to have an overall ability to quiet the emotions and bring peace within the self. It is also often used with enhancing the remembrance of dreams and heighten the intuitive senses bringing a better communication with past spiritual masters and ease the transfer of needed knowledge.

Turchese da bisbee arizona usa - By Sailko - Own work, CC BY 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=34029293TURQUOISE--Turquoise is said to help tone and strengthen the entire body; tissue regeneration; circulation; lungs; respiratory system; aid in vitalizing the blood and the nervous system. It also is said to aid with meditation; creative expression; peace of mind; emotional balance; communication by working with the throat Chakra; friendship; and loyalty. It is a special stone to those of Native American descent and enhances luck to those who are drawn to this stone. It is a softer stone and is often stabilized. It is also one of the stones which gets imitated by dying Howlite to the turquoise color

Opledefeu - By Didier Descouens - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=6631822FIRE OPAL--The Fire Opal embodies the energies of mystery, variety, progress and change. It aids in seeing from different points of view and understanding the different aspects in ones life as when going through major changes. It is said to aid in surviving through stressful times and ease the ‘burn-out’ feelings by bringing hope for the future and faith in the self.

Amber - By Hannes Grobe - Own work, CC BY-SA 2.5, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=3415330AMBER--Amber does come in a few colors but is mostly noted for the golden to yellow-brown color. The other colors it may contain are red, blue, or green hues. Matching the color to the chakra point helps with opening and cleansing of that point. This is another stone/crystal which was once part of a living thing…it is the sap of trees and is a fossilized resin. It speaks from the past and aids with past life recall as well a ancient knowledge. It also transmutes the energy of physical vitality toward the activation of unconditional love. It has been used for a symbol of renewing marriage vows and has been said to bring good luck to warriors. It is said to act as a purifier for ones body, mind and spirit when worn or carried.

Mineraly.sk chalcedon - CC BY 2.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=164249CHALCEDONY--This is a member of the Quartz family and can be translucent, transparent, or opaque and may occasionally contain small amount of Opal. Agate, Bloodstone, Chrysoprase, Carnelian, Chert, Flint, Jasper, Onyx, Sardonyx, Touchstone and Petrified Wood are all specific varieties of Chalcedony. It is said to promote stability and open the pathways for thought communications. It encourages a oneness for the ‘brotherhood of all’, good will, nurturing, and is also said to ease hostilities, irritability and melancholy while enhancing generosity, and receptiveness. Certain types of Chalcedony may also aid with connecting to lost civilizations like Atlantis, Lemuria, and Muu.

Jasper.pebble - Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=401083JASPER--Traditional protective stone, especially the red Jasper. There are a large number of types of Jasper...too many to go into in this article. Most Jaspers seem to work with the lower three Chakra points which are those of survival, energy, grounding and protection. Some will also work with the Heart but the Heart chakra is the bridge between the Earth/Physical Chakra points and the Spiritual Chakra points so that is to be expected.

    JMTk CUby J. M. Tkalec

People come to Reiki at different times and for different reasons. Obviously, the reasons for pursuing a life of Reiki are as varied as are the individuals. I would like to share with you why I came to Reiki.

For months I suffered from an incapacitating pain in my right shoulder; normal movements were impaired. Sleeping comfortably was a challenge and rarely achieved. The cause of the pain went undetected so as a last ditch, my boyfriend took me to a Reiki Share group, which was made up entirely of Reiki practitioners. I had heard of Reiki but was utterly clueless as to what it was and what was going to happen.

As I was seated, four practitioners gathered around me as I described the debilitating pain I was experiencing. I was told to close my eyes, relax and breathe deeply. Each practitioner then put both their hands on me; one placed his hands on my left leg, a woman placed her hands on my knees, another woman placed her hands on my right arm and another man stood behind me, hands on my shoulders.

I sat still, eyes closed, and tried to focus on my breathing. Soon I felt a fifth set of hands, these on my stomach. These hands felt large, I knew it was another man and they felt very cold.

During the session, the first woman moved from in front of me and walked behind me, but I never felt her hands on me again. I continued to focus on the remaining four sets of hands. Soon I entered into a deeply relaxed state.

When the session ended I realized I was completely pain-free and I had full mobility in of my arm. I was ecstatic and in awe. I learned, first hand, the amazing power of Reiki.

I also learned that Reiki practitioners are energetically sensitive and intuitive people. The woman who had removed her hands from me during the session had a message for me. She told me that she had walked behind me and, rather than touching me, she felt compelled to place her hands on the back of the gentleman who had his hands on my shoulders. She said that she felt the hands of someone on her back and turned to see a long line of people, all supporting each other, hands on backs. She told me that they wanted her to tell me that many people who loved me, including my mother, who had previously passed, surrounded me.

Included in this discussion were only the four people who I saw before the Reiki session had begun. I asked who the fifth man with the icy cold hands had been. I was informed that no other person had come into the group and no one else touched me. The second woman in our group told me that those hands had belonged to Archangel Michael, who protected me and cared for me all my life.

Needless to say, for my first Reiki session, this was an overwhelming amount of information and incredibly moving. I had a great deal to try to comprehend.
Not long after that amazing experience, I began to feel a sense of power inside me. I felt drawn to the energy and compelled to learn more and to study Reiki. I then began my journey into this spiritual life and I have been blessed since. I have become a Reiki Master/Teacher and have studied Pranic healing, Shamanic Energy Work and other modalities. I am grateful and honored to be a teacher of Reiki.
