Well...here we are again with a new month. Whew...the summer went by so fast but I can't say that I am sorry because it has been an interesting and enlightening time but one I am glad to left move into the past.

Are we ready for the new levels and lessons coming to us? Probably not...but they are there and they are starting.

We are all needing to move up a level...stepping forward and not back...though for those of us who have a tenancy to cling to the comfortable and live in the past...this may be a difficult thing to do, causing more problems and delays about getting to the space/place we currently need to be.

We truly are our own worst enemies.

BUT...with some focus and a lot of releasing of pre-conceived notions and ideas and expectations...we just might make it through these changes together. With the aid of the crystal/ stone realms and with the help of Mother Nature...(is she doing a cleansing job or what?)...we just might be able to make the transitions and transformations a bit easier. You know...go with the flow and trust your intuition...listen to the voices of teh Earth as well and become a part of their energies as well as the Spiritual energies which are magnifying at this time.

Also...when in doubt...ask. Ask not just others in this physical realm but also ask your Guides, Angels and most importantly, God (in whatever form or with whatever name you call Him/Her/Them... They are all from the same energy force as long as you call from the Light and the Love of the Universe.)

Enough of the preliminary intro and on to the stones of the month. As I have said before, the various lists I am pulling these gemstones from may have overlapping stones from month to month...which is OK. I have also encouraged everyone to not necessarily use just the lists for choosing a special stone for yourself or for others but to go with the energy of the stone you are most drawn to...what attracts you the most?...does it feel good to you?...if choosing for another...keep them in mind and go with what you feel there as well.

Regardless of what the books and lists say the particular stone/crystal you are attracted to says it is for...it is what you need at that particular time or will be needing at some point in the future. All crystals and stones are individuals and may be asked to work in many different ways for you...remember...just ask. Sit with your stone or crystal and let it know what you need help with at this time and, if you are open enough and connected enough to it...it will help you, guide you, and clear that which is no longer needed out of the way.

Sapphire Voda ShaqenSapphire (Blue)--One of the hardest gemstones short of a Diamond. A royalty stone. Works with Throat Chakra to help open communications and bring in clarity. Calming and soothing...tranquil beauty. Assists with allover healing and brings strength to the wearer.

CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=425306Tourmaline--(This month it would focus more on the Blue Tourmaline which is also called Indicolite than the other colors but they all may be considered as a good stone for this month.) Activates the throat chakra as well as the Third Eye, aiding and strengthening communications and openness of the Third Eye. Helps bring in harmony and helps clarify/increase visions. Works to help disorders of the lungs, throat area, thymus & thyroid.

Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=38763Lapis Lazuli--Highly intuitive stone. Used for gentle opening of the Third Eye chakra point. Meditate with a piece over the Third Eye for the best results. Also protective...helps keep the wearer from picking up other people's "junk", especially good for keeping 'psychic vampires' from draining energies. Calming energies as well as opening up communications, both Spiritually and physically. Known as a 'stone of total awareness', Lapis helps with the connection between the earth plane and heaven. Good to help with dream time. Once used by the Egyptians for anything from seals to cosmetics and figurines to vases. The deepest colors come from Afghanistan and feature more pyrite than from other localities. Helps to overcome depression and brings about calming and good cheer to the user. Said to work with the throat for healing as well as bone marrow, thymus, and immune system. Helps with insomnia, vertigo, and dizziness. Also works to improve/heal in the ear area.

By Mauro Cateb - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=16618913Topaz (Blue)--This crystal will work with the throat chakra, helping to verbalize with clarity things that need to be said which may have been repressed before this time. It aids in the unburdening of destructive aspects such as arrogance and out-of-control passions. It also assists in bringing the Body-Mind-Spirit into a smoother union with the energies of the Universe.

Ahhh…August…can you believe the summer is nearly over and we are over halfway through the year? Time sure does seem to be rushing right along.

As I have mentioned before, you may find an overlapping of stones and crystals between different months…it all depends upon the list you are checking. That is why I urge people to choose their stones by what they feel drawn to and not just because the jewelers or 'authorities' say certain stones are for certain months or birthdays. The lists are only for general purposes and do not take into account the current need of the individual…which may change throughout one's lifetime.

By Pureales - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=38067991SARDONYX -- Is actually a form of carnelian which is also an agate but it contains banding of colors like the orange-red and white to clear and contains all of the properties of a carnelian as well as that of Onyx and Chalcedony. It is said to bring happiness in marriage and live-in relationships, allowing one to realize the joys of living. It is also said to help attract friends, good fortune and self control while diminishing hesitation and promoting courage. It is also known as a 'stone of virtue'.

By Michelle Jo - Own work by Michelle Jo, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10287654PERIDOT -- Is said to balance glandular system; aid tissue regeneration; has a beneficial influence on heart, pancreas, spleen, liver, adrenals. It is also said to purify the body; enhance the bloodstream and is an overall balancer and tonic for body/mind. It may also assist in aligning subtle bodies; increasing intuitive awareness; reducing stress while stimulating the mind. It will also assist in accelerating personal growth while opening new doors for opportunity.

By Didier Descouens - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=6563329MOONSTONE -- is said to help balance the male and female energies of a person; said to work with PMS or moodiness; is good for pregnant women or creatures; and almost all of the 'feminine' diseases. The brown moonstone is said to be good for the healing of the lower body and, in particular, the lowest part of the back. The pink and green moonstones are said to be good healing stones for females but will also work for males who tend to experience--'that time of the month'--as well. One of the most sought after versions of the moonstone is the Rainbow Moonstone and is said to have a connection to the divine Goddess and the divine feminine. One of the best stones for any female on the planet and is great for bringing out the nurturing qualities in some males as well. It works on all levels.

By Unknown - http://libraryphoto.cr.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/show_picture.cgi?ID=ID.%20BOM%20Mineral%20Specimens%20036, Public Domain, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=194327GARNET -- This crystal helps strengthen, purify, vitalize and regenerate bodily systems, especially the bloodstream. It is also said to have a strong affinity with the root Chakra, helping to harmonize the potent forces of the kundalini. It aids the stimulation of the pituitary gland; the alignment of the subtle bodies; the increase of love and compassion as well as enhancing one's imagination. Garnets are also suppose to help one through issues with male authority figures, whether they be father, brother or any other, even to dominant female personality.

By Didier Descouens - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=6911957AMETHYST  --  Amethyst is one of the best healing stones/crystals around and is good on almost all problems. Works with the Crown Chakra for bringing in one's higher intuition as well as with balancing the left and right sides of the brain. It is a soothing stone and is said to help with nervous conditions; insomnia; dreams; helping to release addictions; and spiritual enlightenment. One gemstone lore associated with the amethyst is that it will help keep fleas from animals if placed in their water dish…(of course one can hope they don't decide to try and eat them or play with them!) I have a friend who insists this works for her cats.

ONYX -- A variety of chalcedony. Relieves stress. Balances male/female polarities. Strengthens bone marrow. Aids detachment. Enhances emotional balance and self-control. Higher inspiration. Works with chakras and attitudes according to color of stone.

GPL, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=605250CARNELIAN -- This is a variety of Chalcedony which, in turn, is a form of Agate. It is a very highly evolved mineral healer. It is said to energize the blood; aid the kidneys, lungs, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and tissue regeneration. Also said to vitalize the physical/ emotional/ mental bodies while aligning the physical and etheric bodies: enhances attunement with the inner self; facilitates concentration; and opens the heart. This is a warm, social and joyous stone working with the root and the sacral chakras. This is also said to help with self-esteem, fears, angers, hidden emotions and sexual problems. It is often carried as a talisman stone. (EXTRA NOTE: According to Edgar Cayce readings, carnelian is also great for sinus and allergy relief…which I can confirm…at least for me. I have never been overly drawn to it…nice and all but never really wore it until I found that reading in my studies about gemstones. I had been given a lovely stretch bracelet of carved turtles and spacers which was carnelian and so decided to try it. WOW!!! The effect was almost instant when I first put it on so I have been wearing it almost every day since and have had a LOT less problems with my sinuses. Not to be considered a cure-all because if it's a really bad allergy day, I still have some problems but they are significantly less than I used to have and I have backed off using a lot of the over the counter sinus stuff. This is only my personal reaction and it may not be the same for everyone and is definitely not a replacement for prescribed medicines…it is just a booster for whatever therapy you currently use…as are all stone companions.)

By Gia.cossa - Photograph taken at the Museo civico di storia naturale in Milano, CC BY-SA 2.5, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=2618557BERYL -- Beryl is used as a copper alloy and also in constructing the atomic bomb. Beryl and Aquamarine differ only in colour - Beryl is bright blue to white and Aquamarine is sea green to deep green. Best known is the deep green form of beryl, the precious emerald. The yellow beryl is the heliodor and pink beryl is morganite and there is also an extremely rare Red Beryl. Beryl is known for its huge crystals. Madagascar yielded a single crystal weighing nearly 40 tons far surpassing the 18-27 foot monster ones previously obtained from New England. The list of stones/ crystals which are in the Beryl family are aquamarine, bixbite, emerald, gahnite, heliodor, morgnite, and golden or yellow beryl. Each of the stones have their own properties so we will go into the properties of the yellow/golden beryl. It is said to represent purity in all aspects of all planes of being. It is also said to help with initiative and independence in thoughts and actions, stimulating the crown and solar plexus while blending the intellect and spirituality. It gives off the message that there is no obstacle in any circumstance that confidence and conviction cannot resolve. Physically, it is said to help with the treatment of disorders of the heart and spine; concussions and damage in the cranial portion of the head.

Well...here we are...mid-summer and into another month. Seems like I only did the June Gemstones a couple of weeks ago. BUT...there is a difference this time!!! This is my favorite month...July!!!

Let's play a tiny bit of trivia before I delve into the July Gemstones.

1.What month and day is the commemoration of Bastille Day?

2.What month and day was the first Russian Sputnik launched?

3.What month and day is my birthday?

(I do hope you noticed that I purposely did not ask for the year on any of the questions!)

For the answer to the above questions...you'll have to check some of my other blog listings. You didn't think I would just give the answers at the end of this entry, did you?

Now onward to the purpose of this blog listing...July Gemstones.

By Wiener Edelstein Zentrum - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=31984340RUBY--This is the modern as well as the traditional gemstone for the month of July. It is one of the hardest gemstones besides diamonds and sapphires and is used commercially for many items, including but not limited to---use in lasers to amplify energy. They mostly use the clearer or gemmy variety but even the raw or low grade ruby stones can do the same thing for whomever is carrying or wearing them. They are not discriminate amplifiers, either. They will amplify the good as well as the bad so if you are a wearer of rubies, be aware of your thoughts, especially while driving...they can just as easily amplify road-rage as they can protective and healing energies.

By Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10141376There was one woman at a show who must have had 8-10 ruby rings as well as a necklace and earrings on the day I first saw her. I don't remember how the topic came up but I asked her if she happened to be a bit on the road-rage side when driving and she admitted that she was very impatient when in traffic. I told her about how the rubies amplify energy and thoughts and suggested that maybe she would benefit from wearing a few less of them at a time. When I next saw her at a show a few months later, she was wearing less of the rubies and was a whole lot calmer.

Rubies have always been a favorite of mine and anyone who has seen me has probably seen my special ruby...it is a massive ruby record keeper which I wear on braided cording. It was not a stone which wanted any metal wrapped around it. My standing joke is that I had always wanted a large ruby to wear but had never specified that it was gem quality. I got my wish.

Rubies also have a lot of legends and lore pertaining to them. One of my favorites is about its protective qualities. It is said to change color or darken if the wearer is in danger...thus is one of the reasons goblets of the nobility were often encrusted with rubies...to warn them if the drink was poisoned.

So...in my introductory ramblings about the Ruby...we've covered part of the energies and uses for them...they are protective and amplify energies.

They also are said to aid regeneration of physical/spiritual heart; enhance circulation; vitalize blood and entire body/mind system while strengthening immunity. They are also said to activate sluggish or dormant conditions on physical/spiritual levels; refine lower passions as well as enhancing courage, integrity, selfless service, joy, spiritual devotion, power, leadership. They are also said to help banish the sense of limitation.

ALSO...besides Quartz, Rubies are one of the few gemstones which sometimes have record keepers etched or raised on their faces. This means that they hold information from the past, present and perhaps even the future in them. They are knowledge libraries to the ones who can tune into them and decipher their messages.

As I have explained in prior gemstone of the month listings...there are many charts from which to choose and I have tried to include all that apply to this month of June, including the crossover for the Zodiac.
There is no one right or wrong choice on your birthstone...just go with the one you are most drawn to right now...it is probably what you need to help you through the current situations or may even be the stable, guiding energy of your life. It is up to you to choose...I am merely offering the 'traditional' or 'society driven' options for informational purposes. It may give you some insight as to why you are drawn to certain stones and why certain ones may even repel you...(that's usually because you are not ready to accept or work with certain problem areas in your life at the current time...it will come when you are ready.)
Below are the definitions associated with the gemstones of the month. Enjoy!!!...and remember...not all stones or crystals have to be perfect, beautiful, or gem quality to give you the benefits of their energies. The humblest stone, crystal, being or creature, may have more effect and more power to heal, enlighten, or expand your world than the priciest, biggest, or richest thing/being/creature in the world.

Alexandrite - CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=4504822ALEXANDRITE--this is a great transformational stone. It offers the ability to change colors in certain lights and is often very hard to find in the natural state...most on the market now-a-days is manmade but it still contains the transformational properties when aiding you to change both within and without. It is said to help ease depression and find inner joy. It is good for glandular problems and also for the building of the blood.

Pearls - By Hannes Grobe/AWI - Own work, CC BY 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=12457328

PEARL--this gem has been linked with chastity and modesty, making it something of an angelic, pure birthstone. They are also linked to successful and happy marriages. They are not a true gemstone but they do embody the energies of the sea and nature. Very calming and often overlooked by today's generation as 'old lady' jewelry but they are also used in some of the cosmetics today, especially with some of the oriental creams or make-up I have seen. These beautiful gems are universal and an elegant touch to any occasion...especially when you are nervous and want to stay calm.

Green Moss Agate Crystal Ball - By Reitawood (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)], via Wikimedia CommonsAGATE/MOSS AGATE--This stone shows moss-like tendrils (either black or green) through a semi-opaque to semi-translucent white to clear agate and is said to help with plant growth. It is very good grounding, good for lungs, and nervous disorders. (There are actually a few types of classification for this stone...the straight moss agate which normally has black manganese dendrites and the green moss agate which has green needles or tendrils and a harder to find form called Nairobi Moss Agate which also contains a reddish color in with the green.) Agates in general have energies which correspond to their coloring and that, in turn corresponds to the chakra of the same color. They are nearly everywhere and combine with other stones or even former creatures to create beautiful stones and wonderful energies. Some examples of the agatized items are agatized beach glass (Opalite) and agatized coral... a former living creature. It will also combine with bone or plant, making it agatized. All of which goes to show that one should never under estimate the power of the agate.

Mineraly.sk chalcedonCHALCEDONY--This is a form of Quartz, which is also the basis for Agates and many other stones/crystals. It comes in transparent, translucent, or opaque and may have small amounts of opal included. Considered a scared stone by Native American Indians, it was used to help provide stability during ceremonial activities and also aided in opening pathways for thought transmissions. It is very useful for balancing the energies of the body, mind, spirit, and emotions, encouraging brotherhood of all mankind. Also said to help combat build-up of materials in the veins, aid with different forms of dementia, senility, and increase mental stability.

CarneoolCARNELIAN --This is a variety of Chalcedony which, in turn, is a form of Agate. (EXTRA NOTE: According to Edgar Cayce readings, carnelian is also great for sinus and allergy relief...which I can confirm...at least for me. I have never been overly drawn to it...nice and all but never really wore it until I found that reading in my studies about gemstones. Brillanten - By Mario Sarto - Self-photographed, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=1015397DIAMOND--Ah yes...the Diamond...the stone said to be a girl's best friend...well...I have a differing opinion on that one. Almost everyone has seen a diamond. It's one of the most sought after gems stones around and one of the priciest for really good specimens. It has been the traditional engagement ring stone for who knows how long because it signifies loyalty, faithfulness, and steadfastness in relationships and commitments. It is said to help one be the best one can be. It is also the elephant of the crystal world...it never forgets anything it has experienced...which is one reason people should be cautious when buying estate jewelry or pawned engagement/wedding rings...the diamonds store the bad as well as the good and if there was a lot of problems or anger associated with the former owner, that will stay with the stone and influence the next owner. Remember the 'curse' which is legendary to the Hope Diamond? Diamonds are one of the hardest minerals around so wouldn't it be logical that it would be hard to get rid of bad vibrations and memories which had been implanted through wearing or handling of the piece? One may be able to clear some of the memories but there will always be the core remembrance somewhere deep within awaiting to be awoken by a similar event. Diamonds are also used in industry for cutting, lasers, and more.

Beryl - By Rob Lavinsky, iRocks.com – CC-BY-SA-3.0, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=10164440EMERALD--The Emerald is a stone of the heart chakra, opening one to more love and healing past hurts . It is also a stone to work out things with father figures...whether your actual father or someone who has felt like a father to you. It also helps when there is no father figure present. The Emerald is also a stone which helps one to realize prosperity and helps with dream work/ meditation. It deepens spirituality and consciousness. A wonderful all around healing stone.

Akwamaryna na skaleniu - By Lech Darski - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=33677475AQUAMARINE--This is a variety of Beryl. As is obvious with the name, it is associated with the water and all elements of the ocean. It is said to calm the nerves; reduce fluid retention; strengthen kidneys, liver, and spleen; purifies the body; enhances clarity of mind; aids in creative self-expression; aids with physical/ emotional. mental balancing ; helps banish fears and phobias; is excellent for meditation, inspiration, peace, calmness, and love. This stone has several shading variations from the namesake aquamarine blue to a greenish blue and is not always the transparent gem quality but it works well no matter what the color or the quality of the stone/ crystal. This is a very peaceful and calming stone, working with the throat chakra but also working with the feminine side of one's character to allow a better flow of emotions and energy.

Moonstone from Africa - By Mr Matthew Hardy Japan - Photosubmissions, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=20533902MOONSTONE--is said to help balance the male and female energies of a person; said to work with PMS or moodiness; is good for pregnant women or creatures; and almost all of the 'feminine' diseases. It seems that the general consensus for a modern gem stone for the month of May is Emerald, however, there are many other alternatives listed if you don't happen to be drawn to an Emerald. Emeralds may seem a bit on the expensive side, however there are many grades and styles of emeralds…not just the traditional green we all think of…like the Emerald City in 'THE WIZARD OF OZ'. Non-gem quality stones, like the mine-run raw Emeralds, can be as low as $1.00 per stone and contain all of the same energies as the gem quality ones for up-to hundreds more.

The list below for the Gems of this month may also overlap with last month but par of that is due to May having the Zodiac signs of Taurus and Gemini. For the complete lists, check elsewhere in my blog.

It focuses universal love energies into healing. It is a great peaceful and calming stone with its blue to blue-green coloring. Great for those working with computers as well as a good feminine stone, working with the voice, throat, ears and third eye. This particular stone is often found with Malachite and will have the additional properties of helping with the lung conditions (asthma and bronchial conditions) while helping to neutralize the effects of tobacco smoking.

They are a good antidepressant for the body, mind and spirit. Said to help digest heavy foods, aid the heart, kidneys, and pituitary gland functions. It also helps to enhance creativity by releasing blockages holding back talents. White sapphire is the one which helped me to release the blocks I had about wire-wrapping many years ago. The white sapphires I worked with were manmade ones which were manufactured for use in science labs because of the hardness of the substance.

Manmade stones may not have quite the same energies as those found in nature but they do possess many of the same attributes…I just found that they needed frequent rest and recharge periods as well as cleansing but they worked just as well as natural ones. So don't be too quick to condemn manufactured pieces, simply go with what you are drawn to and can afford.

SARDONYX--Is actually a form of carnelian which is also an agate but it contains banding of colors like the orange-red and white to clear and contains all of the properties of a carnelian as well as that of Onyx and Chalcedony. It is said to bring happiness in marriage and live-in relationships, allowing one to realize the joys of living. It is also said to help attract friends, good fortune and self control while diminishing hesitation and promoting courage. It is also known as a 'stone of virtue'.

Very useful for balancing the energies of the body, mind, spirit, and emotions, encouraging brotherhood of all mankind.
