Greetings Everyone and Happy Post Christmas!!!

We are almost to the New Year and I am going to be trying to post more items, tidbits and sales on a regular basis so please keep checking. You never know what might tickle your fancy or reach out a grab you.

This is a new subject blog...Pendulums...but it is not a new item in my stock or crafting agenda. I have made Pendulums for over 12 years and they have transformed alot...from glue, string and shells to the current wire-wrapped, handcrafted chains with stones, crystals and arrowheads.

Pendulums are one of the oldest accepted divination systems in the world and are a close relative to the Dowsing Rod. One may use the Pendulum for the standard Yes/No answers, help find lost or misplaced items, use during healing energy sessions to see the progress and find blockages, and...my favorite when I get the chance...use them over the slot machines at a casino.

You are never limited to the usage of a Pendulum but you should always check or calibrate it after a period of non-usage. Your energies or the energies of the area may have an effect on the way your pendulum swings.

To calibrate a Pendulum, you simple get comfortable holding the Pendulum in your dominent hand with the fob end held lightly, allowing the chain and the point to dangle freely. It is sometimes best to rest your elbow on the table surface or arm of a chair to help keep your hand steady but do what is most comfortable for you. There is no real right or wrong way...each person has their own best way of working with a pendulum.

Next, ask the Pendulum, either mentally or aloud to show you which way is YES. It should start moving in a predominent direction...generally back and forth, side to side, or in a circular motion. Sometimes it merely jiggles like it was laughing or was undecided on which way to move. Don't be alarmed or put out...it may just be the way it wants to show Yes. Ask it to stop and then ask it to show you which way is NO. It should move differently now. If you get the same direction or lack of movement, perhaps it isn't the correct pendulum for you.

To further calibrate the Pendulum, I always ask it to show me Maybe and Unknown.

For energy work, I have found that the pendulum will move in a circular fashion either clockwise or counterclockwise to indicate whether the point is open or closed. Having found the blockage, making the Pendulum move in specific ways while doing a healing session also helps the energy of that spot to move.

There are many fine books out there which describe the use and theory of the Pendulum but I have found that, as in all things, what you believe is how you should work with one. If you believe or do not feel comfortable in having someone else handle your pendulum, crystal, or stone, then do not do it. On the other hand, if you feel comfortable in allowing others to handle your items, then do that.

There is no real right or wrong way to work with any tool...wait...I think I said that before!!! Oh well...it deserves repeating. Too many times we get caught up in the 'right or wrong way to do things' that we just don't do them and end up loosing all the way around.

Ooops...need to get off the soapbox and back to the Pendulums.

Generally, I suggest to people that they carry their new Pendulums around for 3 days or allow it to be under their pillow/ on night stand for 3 nights before seriously trying to work with it but that also depends upon how well you feel attuned to it. I have had customers who have an instant affinity with specific Pendulums, while others can't seem to find the right one for them, no matter how many they try or what kind they try. Some are more adept with them than others and some may find better success with dowsing rods or other methods of divination and healing.

I also suggest that you clean your pendulum with smudge smoke rather than with water, especially when metal is involved. You can also 'pull' or 'swipe' it clean with Reiki. Storing it with a piece of White Sage, a Citrine or Kyanite is another option to help keep it cleared and ready to go whenever you need it. This is another time when you need to go with how you feel for the cleansing of the Pendulum.
