DECEMBER GEMSTONES

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Merry whatever you wish…(to be politically correct). There are too many holidays and too many religions to go into the entire list but I wish everyone a Blessed and Safe Holiday Season, regardless of beliefs or non-beliefs.

On a slight side note/pet peeve/soapbox...everyone please take care while driving in the constantly changing weather conditions. The one thing I remember from my driving training, oh so many years ago...(no…I am not telling exactly how many)...is that when the road conditions are questionable such as wet looking and possibly icy, or snowy and slushy, one should lower their speed by a MINIMUM of 5 MPH below the speed limit...more if conditions warrant it. I have always remembered that bit of advice but it seems that the newer driving schools either do not emphasize this or else the new drivers, and some older ones, have chosen to ignore it, believing they are exempt from the common sense precautions.

How many times have you been driving along at what you consider a safe speed which may be just at the listed speed limit and have someone right up on your bumper or whoosh by you like you are standing still? Short of going to a loved ones side or some emergency situation involving safety or hospitals, there is absolutely nothing worth risking your life or others by speeding around in highly questionable weather and road conditions.

Think on this...regardless of how good you may think you may be at driving...you are usually not the only one on the roadway and the others may not be as swift with reactions as you are. Nature and the weather conditions add in a variable which few people can calculate accurately.

The reason for going off on this tangent is my sincerest wish that everyone within my extended family (everyone who visits and reads my articles regularly as well as any first time readers/visitors) has a safe travel and holiday season. Know that someone does care about you, even if you have never met that person.

WELL...time to get off the soapbox and on to the December Gemstones.

The Gemstones listed are collected from several listings, from Traditional to Modern to Astrological to Biblical and more as was listed in my original Gemstones listings back on March of 2007. These are only suggestions and, as I always say, choose your stones by how you feel and not just by what the lists say or what metaphysical/healing properties they may have listed. The stone(s) you are drawn to are usually what you need in your life at this point and time. Just trust your gut instinct and ask for your highest guidance in choosing your gems and stones. They don’t have to be expensive or even perfect to work with you. Trust your first instinct.

TURQUOISE-- Turquoise is said to help tone and strengthen the entire body; tissue regeneration; circulation; lungs; respiratory system; aid in vitalizing the bloo0d asnd the nervous system. It also is said to aid with meditation; creative expression; peace of mind; emotional balance; communication by working with the throat Chakra; friendship; and loyalty. It is a special stone to those of Native American descent and enhances luck to those who are drawn to this stone. It is a softer stone and is often stabilized. It is also one of the stones which gets imitated by dying Howlite to the turquoise color.

LAPIS LAZULI-- Lapis Lazuli is one of the stones prominently mentioned in the Edgar Cayce readings. It is said to help strengthen the skeletal system; activate the thyroid gland; release tension and anxiety; energize the throat Chakra; augment strength, vitality & virility; facilitate opening of the Chakras (especially the Third Eye and throat); aids with mental clarity and insights. It is also an excellent stone to help open and enhance ones psychic abilities as well as communication with ones Higher Self and Spirit Guides. It will also aid with creative expression. This is also a stone which is recommended to help ward off ‘psychic vampires’ and helps one to avoid absorbing all of the ‘gunk and junk’ from others in a group or public setting.

OBSIDIAN-- There are several types of Obsidian (Mahogany, Rainbow, Apache Tears, Snowflake, etc.) Obsidian is a form of Nature’s glass and is formed through volcanic activity throughout the ages. In general, Obsidian is said to aid with the stomach and intestines; connect the mind and emotions; is a slightly masculine energy; grounds spiritual energy into the physical plane; absorbs and disperses negativity; reduces stress; helps clear subconscious blocks; brings understanding of silence and ‘the void’. It is also said to aid with detachment, but with wisdom and love. It is a powerful healer for those attuned to it. In particular, the Snowflake Obsidian is good for grounding oneself and for protecting the home and vehicle from harm.

QUARTZ-- Quartz is one of the basic elements combined into many other crystals and stones. It is said to enhance the crystalline properties of blood, body and mind. It is also said to help activate and enhance pineal and pituitary glands; aid with emotional balancing; stimulate brain functions; and amplify thought forms. Its full spectrum of energy helps activate all levels of consciousness. It will also help to dispel negative energy in ones energy field and in the surrounding environment. It receives, activates, stores, transmits and amplifies energy. It is an excellent crystal for meditation; enhances interdimensional communication and communication with ones Higher Self an Spirit Guides. It is an all-purpose crystal and may be programmed for any positive intent.

TOPAZ-- Topaz comes in many colors, both naturally and artificially enhanced either by heat or radiation. It is said to aid with tissue regeneration; strengthen the thyroid gland; enhance the metabolism and help balance the emotions. It is a crystal with cooling and soothing effects, aiding with bringing about peace and tranquility. It is said to enhance creativity; self-expression; psychic perceptions; and communication with ones Higher Self and Spirit Guides.

RUBY-- Ruby is the red variety of corundum, the second hardest natural mineral known to mankind. People interested in metaphysics and crystal healing say that ruby is known as the "star of fire", and is useful in assisting the earth in receiving the full spectrum of light necessary for enlightenment. Ruby crystals can also aid in purifying and correcting trapper energy which leads to atrophy. It helps refine the will as a love based force It is an excellent stone for re-birthing and for releasing blockages along the spiritual path. Rubies promote dreaming and stimulate transmission of information from ones spiritual guides. Legend has it that the Ruby would help detect poison or danger by changing colors, usually darkening, which is why it was on of the favorite stones of royalty and was often seen set into goblets as well as predominant jewelry for the elite. Rubies are also one of the few stones which exhibit the capacity of being a Record Keeper by having a raised or indented triangular configuration on one of its sides or faces, (usually only found in the raw, unpolished state). The Record Keeper configuration may also look like a square or a rectangle, though it is not as common. Record keepers are crystals within which wisdom is stored. When one properly attunes to this crystal, ancient knowledge and secrets of the universe may be psychically retrieved. One needs an open mind and a pure heart to access the information via attunement of the consciousness with the inner energies of the crystal. When a person is properly attuned to a Record Keeper, the knowledge of the Universe is available. Record Keeper crystals, either as a Ruby or a Quartz, may have been programmed by the beings that created the energies which have culminated life on this planet and may have been left by the Atlantians and the Lemurians.

GARNET-- Garnet is sometimes called ‘the poor man’s Ruby’. It does come in several colors with varying additional properties but, overall, it is said to help release all types of fears; works with issues one may have with masculine or dominant people in ones life, either now or in the past; works in the root Chakra (when it is the red garnet) bringing in more grounding and energy. Red Garnets also attract and inspire romantic love, positive thoughts, inspiration, energy, past life recall, and self confidence. Garnet is also considered to be a ‘stone of health’, aiding with the extraction of negative energies from the chakras and transmuting that negativity into a positive force.

BLUE ZIRCON-- Though not listed as a color in the description of Zircon in Melody’s ‘Love Is In The Earth’, Zircon is one of the few crystals which exhibit’s the capacity to be found as a natural double pyramid. The blue coloring may be a new color since the publishing of the book or it may be enhanced by heat treatments, dying, or irradiation. It is still a beautiful crystal and the blue coloring would work with either the throat or the 3^rd eye chakra points. It is said to be a ‘stone of virtue’, bringing ones virtuous nature back into balance with universal forces. Zircon, in general, does work with the root, third and fourth chakras to raise them to a higher level of intensity. It is said to help strengthen ones will while allowing one to realize that he/she is a part of ‘All That Is’, encouraging each to keep moving forward on the evolutionary spiral of life in this human existence. It is also said to symbolize innocence, purity, and consistency. It is said to work with nerves in the spinal area; aid with increasing bone stability; works with vertigo and in mending bones as well as muscles.

AMETHYST-- Amethyst is a variety of Quartz. It is said to help strengthen the endocrine and immune systems; enhance right brain activity as well as pineal and pituitary glands. It is a powerful blood cleanser as well as energizer. It is said to help with mental disorders; purification and regeneration on all levels of consciousness; and help to transmute one’s lower nature into the more highly refined aspects of their higher potentials. It is a physical representative of the Violet Ray of alchemy and transformation. It is said to help one cut through illusion; enhance psychic abilities; aid with channeling abilities; and is excellent for meditation. Amethyst is a calming stone with strong protective properties.
