Muladhara Chakra

Universal Lesson: We are all one
Color: Red
Position: The Base of the Spine or Tailbone.
Gland: Gonads
Governs the Organs of Elimination, including the immune system, lungs, bones, large intestine and rectum

The base chakra is our connection to the Earth, our primary center for grounding and connection to earthly needs.

It governs our connections to family, tribe, and nation. It also governs survival needs: work, family and shelter. It is the base of our emotional balance.
While the first chakra governs positive family connections, race memory and traditions it also governs racism (those who are not like us), childhood traumas, and abandonment fears. It is the center is most likely to become unbalanced during attempts to break with family patterns and traditions - both beneficial and negative.

The base chakra also governs work and how we provide for ourselves and our family. When out of balance our work can become our life leading to a workaholic lifestyle or identifying self solely as your job. When in balance the energies of work become more joyful and creative with a greater connection to the goals of work rather than the work itself.

A balanced base chakra brings self-confidence, enthusiasm, a strong will to live and a clear sense of identity. Trust in others comes easily.

Imbalance in the base chakra can lead to Chronic lower back pain, rectal, and immune disorders, depression, multiple personality disorder, obsessive - compulsive disorder, addictions, sciatica, and varicose veins.
